✅ Ingredients
- 500g (1 lb) ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
- 1 small onion, grated
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Greek Olive Oil
- 1 egg (optional, for binding)
- 2 – 3 tbsp breadcrumbs (optional)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce or mustard
- parsley & mint (to taste)
- tsp of white vinegar
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
- Burger buns
- Toppings: cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, ketchup, mustard — whatever you love!
✅ Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, grated onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Olive oil, Worcestershire sauce or mustard, mint and parsley, vinegar salt, and pepper.
Gently mix until just combined — don’t overwork the meat.
Form into burger patties about the size of your palm. Make a small indent in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
Preheat your grill (or grill pan) to medium-high heat.
Cook the burgers for about 4–5 minutes per side for medium, or until they reach your desired doneness.
Add cheese during the last minute if you’d like it nice and melty.
Toast the buns on the grill for extra flavor.
Build your burger with your favorite toppings and sauces.
Serve hot and enjoy with fries, chips, or a fresh salad!
✅ Alternative Baking Tip
Bake them in a preheated oven for 25 to 30 mins 375F (180C)
✅ Tips for Grilling Burgers Perfectly Every Time
Grilling a juicy, flavorful burger is easy when you know a few simple tricks! Here are my go-to tips to make sure your burgers turn out perfect every time:
✔️ Choose the right meat: Use ground beef that’s 80% lean and 20% fat — that extra fat keeps your patties juicy on the grill.
✔️ Don’t overwork the meat: Gently mix your ingredients and shape the patties without packing them too tight. Over-mixing can make burgers tough.
✔️ Make an indent: Press a small dent in the center of each patty with your thumb. This helps the burger cook evenly and prevents it from puffing up.
✔️ Keep it cold: Chill your patties in the fridge before grilling. This helps them hold their shape and stay juicy.
✔️ Grill on medium-high heat: A hot grill gives you that delicious sear while locking in moisture.
✔️ Flip once: Resist the urge to press down on your burgers — it squeezes out all the tasty juices! Flip just once for the best results.
✔️ Let them rest: After grilling, let the burgers rest for a couple of minutes. This helps the juices settle back into the meat.
✅ Creative Topping Ideas to Make Your Burgers Extra Special
Make your homemade burgers feel like a gourmet treat with these fun and tasty topping ideas:
🍔 Classic: Crisp lettuce, fresh tomato slices, red onion rings, cheddar cheese, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.
🧀 Cheesy Twist: Try Swiss, pepper jack, or blue cheese for a new flavor.
🥓 Smoky Bacon: Add crispy bacon and BBQ sauce for a smoky bite.
🥑 Avocado Dream: Sliced avocado or guacamole for creamy goodness.
🍳 Breakfast Burger: Top with a fried egg for the ultimate brunch burger.
🧅 Caramelized Onions: Sweet, golden onions add an amazing depth of flavor.
🌶️ Spicy Kick: Add jalapeños, sriracha mayo, or a spicy pepper jack.
🥗 Fresh & Zesty: Try arugula, pickled onions, or a squeeze of lemon for brightness.
Mix and match — there’s no wrong way to build your perfect burger!
