22 Mar Greek Traditional Tzatziki
My family really adores this sauce and I make it really often. Tzatziki is made with Greek yogurt, shredded cucumber, olive oil, fresh dill, garlic, and salt. It’s the best refreshing sauce, dip or spread for meats, grilled or fresh veggies, bread and of course Greek fries! You probably know what I am talking about if you had visited Greece or a Greek restaurant you most likely had tried it already. How to Make Tzatziki? Here I am sharing the authentic Greek family recipe. The recipe that every Greek family makes. It’s simple and quick and definitely Greek! So get your cucumbers ready for some shredding! We are having tzatziki today!
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cucumbers, shredded and drained
- 1 to 1 ½ cups plain Greek yogurt
- ¼ of a dill bunch, chopped
- 1 clove of garlic, pressed
- 2 tablespoons Extra virgin Olive Oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
INSTRUCTIONS
Add you Greek plain Yogurt to a bowl Add salt to the bowl with the shredded cucumbers Then take the shredded cucumbers between your palms over the bowl or the sink to remove excess moisture. Transfer the squeezed cucumber to a serving bowl, and repeat with the remaining. Add the Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the chopped dill, the pressed garlic, and salt to the bowl, and stir together. Let tzatziki rest for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Taste and add additional salt or dill to your taste. Serve tzatziki immediately or refrigerate for later. Enjoy Authentic Greek Tzatziki with grilled meat, gyros, veggies, bread or Greek fries!
