About

Recently I met a friend from High School, during my visit in Greece. She asked me: 

  • – What are you doing in your life?
  • – …… Pause from me. I didn’t know where to start. What to say first. Talk to her about my studies, about my career as a designer, how I moved to the USA or how I met my husband and had our daughter? So I end up saying the following.
  • – I am a mom. This is my daughter and my husband. I do food photography and videos for my clients, interior design, 3ds and I cook on Youtube. We live in New Jersey, USA.

That was it. In a couple of sentences I gave a rough description of myself and what I do.

Hi, I am Theodora, a Greek, based in NY – USA, a Food photographer/ cinematographer, a passionate cook, a freelance Interior – Industrial 3D designer https://tsilikodesign.com/ , a strongly creative person and mom of Ellie. The last one so far is the most important role that I ever got in my life. 

Photography was always in my life but not in a professional way. Cinematography was more my thing but not professionally.  In 2008, I created two stop motion films. One of them the “Element addiction” won the 1st prize at the Public Digital Film Festival (Greece). After that I took courses for film directors and created more short movies and stop motions.

My journey in food photography had started few years ago when I became a mom and creativity was knocking from inside my skin to get a new life.

I studied a lot.

Then the Youtube channel and Instagram of Greek and Simple were born. Since then I have been developing my skills in photography and videography every day. I really enjoy the process and I am always looking for more.

I love to cook for my family and friends, enjoy food and moments. I am sharing my recipes with a little piece of our life here in New Jersey and that way I create small movies. I hope that my viewers enjoy and feel relaxed. In this ride I have on board my daughter Ellie. 

She also got a camera (or “camema” as she calls her camera) and she is shooting her own pictures and videos. Maybe she even believes that’s the normal thing to do when you create something beautiful. That way that beauty is going to be alive forever. Who knows? 

I love creating meaningful beauty. Whatever I do I make sure it comes out beautiful.

I started my journey in photography shooting with an old phone camera. I upgraded to my first camera Canon EOS M50 a few months later. (So light weight)! A year later I got my Canon EOS R which I use for all my shooting now. I do everything myself, from the stories to storyboard, the directory, lighting, editing and audio, graphics etc.

Life is  moments. A blank canvas that we draw with our own colors. Let’s make it a pretty!

  •  My first channel on Youtube was created in 2008.
  • I was working as an Industrial designer at a playground manufacturer company in Greece and you still can find some of my designs there.
  • I was pole dancing before maternity and hope I’ll be able to do it again soon.
  • I used to play the piano for 10 years.
  • I want to travel all around the world. So far I a had visited, Italy, (Rome, Naples), France (Paris), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Figures), Portugal (Lisbon), Germany (Berlin), Czechia (Prague), Tunisia (Tunis), Turkey (Antalya), Bratislava, (Slovakia), Hungary (Budapest). In the USA I haven’t traveled much yet, just West Palm Beach, FL, Cape Cod, MA and lately we visited Utah (Lehi).
  • I have tons of favorite books. Right now I am reading “The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read” by Philippa Perry and “Saltwater” by Jessica Andrews.
